Alright, so I watched this film a long time ago, and read the book even longer ago. So, I will do my best.
This film was directed by Stefen Fangmeier and produced by John Davis, Adam Goodman, and Gil Netter. Edward Speelers played the main character, Eragon, and Sienna Guillory played Arya. The amazing and versatile Jeremy Irons protrayed Brom. Rachel Weisz was playing as the voice of Saphira.
The novel was very slow in the beginning, then it slowly built up into my interest range. I read this in third grade, so I really cannot remember what made me pick up this book, but I do remember liking it enough to reread it. You really must persevere through the start of this novel. The rest of the series is for the patient book-readers, but full of action, if that makes any sense.
The war scenes were epic, and plenty of them appeared. There was all the lovable characters, Arya was my favorite. She was a tough elf, that she was. She was a princess, as well, if I recall right. She was always distancing herself from all humanity, it seemed. She was always cool and collected, but fought like a dragon. Eragon was an obvoious favorite of mine, with his connection to Saphira. I loved Saphira as well. Those two just highlighted the other one so well. Their bond was really one of my favorite parts of the story. How protective Saphira was over Eragon, and how much he loved her...Plus, she was a dragon! How cool was that? And she spoke in poeples' minds!
The detail in this novel was astounding! Christopher Paolini has really out done himself with this book. I adored it, and it was a calming novel for me. The plot was instantly familiar and comforting. There was so much action, tragedy and real emotions from the characters that I could feel that I was never bored with it. Even in the slow start, I was still intrigued by the setting.
The setting was creative and entrancing. The Spine was my favorite place he went in this book. Dumb Sloan. I also liked Carvahall as the town itself, the place. It's inhabitants irritated me. They were never listening to anyone. Maybe Christopher did that on purpose. But I really felt like wherever the characters went in this book, that I was there with them, fighting, or riding, or dining! Paolini has a great gift and it shows through these books!
This is a higher reading level, but with a little effort, most people could read this series of novels. Everyone, young or old would love these, it was like reading a fairy tale on steroids. This is a novel everyone not only could read, but they should read it as well!
