The Promised German Lesson

These are the informal ways of saying these phrases, by the way. I might make another one with the formal phrases if I feel like it.

'Hello' in German is 'hallo'.

'Goodbye' in German is 'tschus'. 'Tsch' is equivalent to 'ch' in our language.

'How are you?' in German is 'wie gehts'.

Hopefully, you all learned from this. Hopefully, this will serve as a reminder to me learn German when I am finished with Latin.

Return of The Latin Lessons!

Another Latin lesson for everyone! Fun times! My Latin is progressing, though mind you I am no where near fluent yet. Shame, that. However, it is progress nonetheless.

'Seize the day' in Latin is 'carpe diem'.

'This is very good' in  Latin is 'is est valde bonus'.

'She flies with her own wings' in Latin is 'alis volat propriis'. It is actually a Latin phrase used as the motto of the state of Oregon.

So, I hope everyone enjoyed learning along with me. I'll probably end up doing another one, with a bunch of random phrases that I have picked up. French and German are next after Latin! I'm already a few phrases into German. Maybe I'll make a lesson for German, too! Valette!

'Oh My Goth' Book Review

I love this novel! Yes, that is really all there is to it. Gena Showalter is already an amazing author, showcased in only every novel she has ever written, and this book highlights that perfectly. I am a Goth, (what you couldn't tell?) *spins in a circle*, and Gena must have had some strong connection to Goths, because this book portrays us so well! The message of this book, that it is okay to be original, that it's fine to stand up for yourself and what you are, is wonderful. Wonderful beyond words, and no matter what I say, only reading the book itself will do it justice.

Jade was wonderful. I loved her snarky narration of the novel; she was positively perfect! Everything she said clicked, and she never whined about her mother dying, she wanted to be different, and she was strong. She took care of herself, and everyone else to mention it.  I adored Clarik. You cannot go wrong with him. I normally read fantasy YA, as I'm sure you all have noticed by now, but this was a blast of cool, refreshing normal. Yeah, yeah, I know, they got stuck in a VR game, but the characters were normal! Particularly Clarik. *sighs dreamily* He's great, aye?

*SPOILERS*

I could not believe that he was reporting to Ms. Hamilton! I was so scared that he really hadn't cared about Jade at all, and that he was just being manipulative. And then, he wasn't, and I was so relieved.

*Spoilers are passed*

The plot really wasn't that winding, so I don't know what it was about it that captivated me so much. But it was entrancing, and I literally finished this book in a day flat. It was over way too soon, and I want a sequel! Come on, Gena, let us know how everything went after they got back! It was so creepy with all the Goths, and how the preps were the freaks. Even if it is a book, it is still jarring to see your reality turned upside-down. This plot, however, was killer. I could not stop reading this book. Everything about it, characters, setting, plot, you name it, made me boundlessly happy. It brought me a great amount of joy to read, and then to reflect on.

Her settings were awesome. I loved Cafe Young Blood, of Giovanni, whatever. I can translate if I want to, right? The school sounded just like every other school, but there was that underlying factor just like with the plot that I just can't put me finger on. It was comforting, and I loved it.

I've actually read this book twice, it is now added to my Goth Classics Shelf. I read it the first time a long time ago, and never got a review up, and I just reread it about a month ago because it was so enjoyable. Gena has really outdone herself with this novel. Did you love it as much as I did? I'm positive it can't have been just me. This book was amazing beyond belief.

This book is great for anyone. Sci-fi readers, fantasy, romance, comedy. A perfect, near-flawless novel that I will probably still reread again. And again. Go pick it up! Off you go!

'The Darkest Minds' Book Review

Okay. Wow. So, I just finished this book. Like, about three minutes ago. So, as not to mess up our normal book review format, I will make a great show of inner strength and start with the characters.

Let's begin with Chubs, shall we? I'll be honest. I hated him for about the first three quarters of this novel. I thought he was rude, irritating and harsh, and he annoyed me even more than Alec did in the City of Bones. And then, he became funnier, and kinder to Ruby, and even began to take care of her. I finished this book actually completely loving Chubs. Next, Ruby. I loved her narration of this novel, I loved her overall personality throughout the book, and I thought that Alexandra did a wonderful job with her back story. I really felt for her. Now, let's talk about Liam. I loved Liam! He was sweet, and caring, and protective, and I loved that he was a Blue. He's an amazing character to have in this novel; he was always so hopeful and willing to take of things. Clancy=X Enough said.

This was a great premise for a novel. The camps, the disease, the colors. I loved how they were always on the run, and I loved Black Betty(nice touch). There were great twists in this.

*SPOILERS AHEAD!*

What did you guys think of that apparently the League was bad?

Now, this is what I am dying to talk about. How could he forget her? He said he wouldn't! He said he never, never, never would! And then, it ended like that. "He just wasn't seeing Ruby." Oh, Alexandra, why? I had already been spoiled by my sister *glares at twin* so I was sobbing even before I reached the part. I, uhm, literally threw the book across the room sobbing, and my sister had to go pick it up so that I could read the final page. I was hysterical. I couldn't stop crying. My mother was looking at me oddly, she actually grabbed my hand to comfort me, and I was screaming at the book, that at that point was still on the ground. I finished it and ran into the family room to get on my mother's computer. I tried to read the first chapter of Never Fade, but I just couldn't do it. I hated this ending.

*End of spoilers*

I am composed again. Whew. I loved the setting, though. Oh, except Thurmond, of course. I wished a Red would burn that down. But, really, most of the settings that Ms. Bracken created were wonderful, and brought me utmost joy.

This book is great for a lot of readers. YA readers, adults, people who like science fiction, folks who like fantasy, most people! It's a great novel, and very enjoyable.

Angel Of Music

Our ninth and final angel is Sandalphon, the patron angel of music! His name means 'brother', in Greek, in reference to his twin brother, the angel Metatron(see eighth angel).

Sandalphon and Metatron, are the only two archangels in Heaven to have once been mortal men. Sandalphon, on earth, was Elijah, the prophet. He was very tall as an angel. He carries on, like Micheal, a ceaseless battle with Sameal, angel of evil.

No fact.
